Hemp wick is hemp twine soaked in beeswax, and it’s about the simplest, cleanest-burning lighter there is. It can light almost anything: candles, pilot lights, pipes, tobacco, herbs, and camping grills. On top of that, it preserves the flavor and terpene profiles of fine herbs, cuts your exposure to butane, and burns at a much lower temperature than a traditional lighter.
We make our hemp wick by hand in small batches and quality-test every one ourselves. Every inch of all-natural hemp twine gets hand-coated in all-natural beeswax from our local apiaries, and we package everything ourselves with recycled packing paper and compostable containers.
We don’t use any of the following: GMOs, starches, lead, filler wax, paraffin wax, blended fibers, acid salts, bleaching agents, or petroleum products. We also don’t use machines or outsource any of it.

Our ingredients
Beeswax. We coat our hemp twine in organic wildflower beeswax from our local apiaries. The hives sit on uninhabited land near the beekeeper‘s home, where the bees gather pollen for wild blossom honey and wax from willow, pear, and elm trees, along with blackberry bushes, clovers, and other wildflowers. That surrounding land is wild, uncultivated, and never fertilized or chemically sprayed. The local beeswax is what gives our hemp wick its sweet honey smell and rich golden color, which can range from light yellow to medium brown depending on the season and which flowers the bees favored. Bees are naturally drawn to our hemp wick because of that beeswax.
Hemp. Our pure, natural hemp is grown in California. It’s unbleached and minimally processed, and the twine’s color can vary based on the strain, the location, and even the season it was grown in. As the hemp industry in Alabama keeps growing, we hope to find local sources so we can support and build up our local economy even more.
Packaging. Our labels are hand-cut from 100% post-consumer recycled paper and hand-stamped. The mailer is 100% compostable, except for the shipping label, and we wrap the wick in 100% post-consumer recycled packing paper, often old newspaper. We’ve recently switched to glassine packaging, made from wood pulp and compostable, which keeps the wick fresh and debris-free without sending plastic to the landfill.
Uses
Hemp wick lights candles (and can be used to make them), pilot lights, pipes, tobacco, herbs, camping grills, and just about anything else. Pull it taut to reach tricky spots like the center of a campfire, a grill, or an almost-empty candle. It preserves the flavor of fine herbs, reduces butane exposure, and burns cooler than a traditional lighter.
The beeswax coating also improves tensile strength, which makes hemp wick handy well beyond lighting. It works as general lightweight rope, in jewelry making, on clothes lines, for securing or hanging vine plants (great in the garden, where it may even help attract honeybees for pollination), and in a pinch as a makeshift fishing line, snare line, or shoestring. You can wrap it around a lighter, a stick or skewer, or use it as handle wrapping for knives, hatchets, and axes, which makes it easy to carry everywhere.
